Art Teacher Blogging 101: Starting from Scratch

Oh. My. Goodness.

How many YouTube tutorials on blogging can a person watch before pure exasperation sets in? If you’re anything like me, you’ve been through a dozen, and I’m still trying to figure out how to change my author name, let alone this dark blue background that doesn’t match the rest of the site.

(P.S. If you’ve noticed, the website is a work in progress—so thanks for sticking around!)

Whether you’ve landed here by chance or choice, I promise to bring you all sorts of Art Education goodness that will make your journey in the art room smoother and more enjoyable, no matter what grade you teach.

A Bit About Me

Hi there! I’m Tiffany Fox, and I’ve had the joy of teaching high school art in North Carolina for 10 fabulous years. Those were the best years of my life…until Covid happened. Then virtual learning came in and nearly hijacked my sanity.

But here’s the thing—I love teaching. I love the sound of kids chatting and bustling about in my classroom (well, at the beginning and end of class—not during work time…we’ll get to that in another post!) I love seeing students grow into fabulously creative beings and watching their confidence soar as they develop their skills.

Young people are our most precious commodity—and now more than ever, they need our commitment and support. They need structure, kindness, mercy, and grace.

What to Expect from This Blog

I’m diving into all things art teacher life. My focus will be on teaching middle and high school art, with a special emphasis on fostering excellence in the classroom. Here’s a preview of the topics I’ll be covering:

  • Classroom & Behavior Management
  • Scaffolding Learning
  • Teaching Painting & Drawing
  • Running an AP Art Program
  • Creating Unity in the Art Room
  • Building Confidence in Student Artists
  • Designing Fun & Engaging Art Lessons
  • Writing Effective Rubrics

And that’s just the beginning! I’ve already filled up a notebook with ideas, and I can’t wait to share them with you. For some of my favorite teaching tools and resources, check out Mrs. T Fox’s Resource Store on TPT.

So Why Am I Blogging?

Aside from wanting to connect with fellow art educators, I’m blogging because I’ve realized that the resources and guidance we provide can make all the difference in shaping the next generation of creatives. I want to be a part of that, and I know you do, too.

But first, I have to figure out how to make this website look a little less…blue.

Your time is valuable, and I truly appreciate you stopping by to read this post on the day I almost threw my MacBook out the window. Someday, I’ll look back at this and laugh—probably while blogging from a treadmill on my phone. But today is all about learning not to cry over CSS formatting!

Until Next Time…

I hope to see you soon. I’ve got loads to share and would love for you to join me on this art teacher journey. Stay safe, keep creating, and thanks for hanging out with me during my blogging growing pains.

Tiff 🙂
